 Operation Red Nose Outaouais Needs VolunteersGatineau, December 26, 2008 - Operation Red Nose Outaouais is looking for about 200 volunteers for December 31st. New Year's Eve brings with it celebrations and Red Nose telephone lines will be busy between 1:00 a.m. and 3:30 in the morning. Volunteers who are already registered and people who would like to join them can come directly to the Chalet Fontaine, 120 Charlevoix Street (Hull sector) around 8:00 p.m. on December 31st. Again this year, volunteers who sign up for New Year's Eve are treated to a traditional holiday dinner. The chauffeur service will be available on Friday, December 26, Saturday, December 27, and Wednesday, December 31st. Since December 5, volunteers gave 1,431 rides.
Operation Red Nose is a unique program dedicated against drinking and driving. Essentially, it is a volunteer driving service provided during the Holiday Season to all drivers who have been drinking or who do not feel fit to drive their own vehicle. Even though the service is free, donations are welcomed and, in our region, go towards a sport fund administered by Loisir sport Outaouais, project sponsor of Operation Red Nose Outaouais.
