NEWS RELEASE Embargo: November 13, 2008

End the evening "on a good note"
with Operation Red Nose!
Gatineau, November 13, 2008 – Starting December 5, Operation Red Nose Outaouais will be running again under the direction of Loisir sport Outaouais. This popular and free chauffeur service launched in Quebec City 25 years ago reminds us to not take the wheel if we don’t feel fit to drive. The service will be available between 8:00 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. on December 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 26, 27, and 31.
"I encourage everyone to participate actively in Operation Red Nose. Even though the service is free, donations are accepted and help young athletes to persist and perform in their discipline," said Mrs. Lise Waters, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Loisir sport Outaouais.
We asked Ms. Chanelle Charron-Watson, athlete by excellence at the national level in 2008 how grants were helping young athletes: “Financial assistance such as grants from the sport fund is essential for elite athletes. It helps them pay for training camps out of the region and for international competitions. With a lesser financial burden, athletes can put all their energy into the physical and psychological preparation for their performance”.
Recruiting Volunteers
With close to 45,000 rides since 1985, Operation Red Nose Outaouais knows that it can rely on its volunteers' commitment. Everyone is invited to take concrete action to make our roads safer while enjoying an evening out of the ordinary!
"Volunteer’s participation is key to the success of Operation Red Nose. We must recruit new volunteers annually in order to maintain an efficient service," said Ms. Annie Dallaire, Director General of Loisir sport Outaouais.
“Subway is proud to be the Official Presenter of Operation Red Nose Outaouais 2008. For the occasion, I invite owners and directors of companies to put teams of volunteers together among their employees and come live the Operation Red Nose experience, even for just one night,” said Mr. Ghislain Guérin of Subway restaurants of the Outaouais.
To volunteer, fill out a registration form available on line at www.operationrednose.com or in paper form at Subway restaurants, Caisses Desjardins and points of service of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec.
